Melissa Hill (Executive Director, Vice-President)

Melissa Hill is thrilled and honored to have cofounded the Lyric Theatre of Leadville alongside Scott Carroll and to be selected as the Executive Director. Melissa brings a long history of local volunteer coordination and organization to the table in this new adventure. Having lived in Leadville over 25 years, she has watched and thoughtfully participated in the growth of the community and its visitors. She and her husband have been local business owners for over 16 years, helping to build on Leadville’s tourist industry with their combined businesses of Alpine Ski & Sport and Colorado Fly Fishing Guides. In addition, Melissa has been the sole property manager for RE/MAX Aspen Leaf Realty for over 10 years, during which time she has grown the business exponentially.

Her volunteer roster includes being president of the 3A campaign which ended with a matching grant from the local Leadville community and a complete remodel of the local high school. The remodel included thoughtfully maintaining the existing gym and theater, now a local source of pride for the entire community. She is the full-time volunteer coordinator for all Lake County High School theatre productions as well as a frequent volunteer for performances at the Old Church and the Tabor Opera House. Previously she spent 12 years coordinating the local Halloween celebration, Pumpkin Patch, a huge hit with the kids which also provided free costume and coat exchange. Melissa also helped to support the preschool Learn to Ski Program which taught 20 kinder-ready kiddos how to ski at the local hill, Ski Cooper. One of her greatest passions is also assisting, empowering, and supporting local mothers through pregnancy, labor, and delivery as a doula. She has been a doula for 18 years, attending both home and hospital births.

As the Executive Director of the Lyric Theatre of Leadville, she believes that Leadville deserves the high quality and diverse theatrical experience it was once accustomed to 100 years ago. In fact, the foundation of this company is built on taking the history of Leadville Victorian elegance and adding to it a new diversity and unexpected twist.
